Stroud Nature is a Community Interest Company and was set up in 2015 to organise the annual Stroud Festival of Nature. This is a three month long programme of events and activities that takes place at venues and locations throughout the Stroud District. Thousands of people are engaged in walks, talks, exhibitions, workshops and more.
Stroud Nature works with a large number of local wildlife and environmental organisations, trusts, charities and individuals, to plan and deliver these events. Many of these are members of the Stroud Nature Forum. This meets regularly to discuss the festival, share ideas and look at joint projects.
Each year, almost fifty organisations come together for the highlight of the summer – the Big Nature Festival in the Park. Taking place on a Sunday in July, this attracts in excess of 3000 visitors to Stratford Park, home to this event for the last ten years.
Stroud Nature provides the umbrella for all these organisations, promoting networking and collaboration, magnifying our collective messages to a greater number of people.
The company has four directors with a variety of knowledge, experience and skills, including community engagement, green space management, environmental sustainability, interpretation design, outdoor education and wildlife illustration
